Historic Northern Neck Tour June 24

The Virginia Society of Colonial Wars hosts a June 24 historic sites one-day excursion available to Warriors and their Spouses or Guests.The tour includes tour leaders Colonial dignitaries Richard Henry Lee and Col. James Monroe personally greeting and accompanying us on private tours of historical sites and private homes of the Northern Neck. The itinerary (see locations below) includes a private tour of Historic Ditchley with a cider tasting and box lunch. Warrior and member of the Council Jim Russell has organized a most interesting day! The $120 per-person cost includes bus transportation to and from the Commonwealth Club in Richmond, site admission, lunch and a concluding reception at historic Westlawn, the home of the Russells. Seating is limited to thirty (30) participants. Register below.

Arrive Sabine Hall – Home Of Landon Carter

Arrive Wicomico Church – Oldest Episcopal Church in Virginia (where George Washington was christened)

Arrive at Historic Ditchley. The manor house at Ditchley was built ca. 1752 by Kendall Lee, descendant of Col. Richard Lee, the Immigrant. Tour historic home, followed by a cider tasting from the award-winning Ditchley Cidery and then lunch.

Arrive at Christ Church for private tour and presentation/discussion by Richard Henry Lee and Col. James Monroe

Arrive at Westlawn for private tour and cocktails with Owner and fellow Warrior Jim and Diana Russell
c.1932 Colonial Revival home is a contributing building to the Heathsville Historic District. Built of cypress, the facade features side windows with a traditional fan light above its front entrance. Westlawn is on the National Historic Register and is a Virginia Historic Landmark.

Depart Westlawn for Commonwealth Club, arrival approximately 7:00 p.m.
