On July 4, 2024, Virginia Lt. Governor Channing Hall presented a $1,250 matching grant check from the General Society to Tuska Benes, Ph.D., Chairman of the Harrison Ruffin Tyler Department of History at The College of William and Mary (1693 – second oldest college in the U.S.) to fund the Virginia Society’s Masters student scholarship. They are standing beside the statue of Norborne Berkeley, 4th Baron de Botetourt, Colonial Governor of Virginia 1768-1770, in front of the College’s Wren Building (1695), the oldest extant college building in the U.S.
