Grants in Action: 2024 Jamestown Rediscovery Matching Grant Awarded

Virginia Lt. Governor Channing Hall met with Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation President James P. P. Horn, Ph.D., on Jamestown Island to present a $1,000 check from the General Society for matching funds for Virginia’s grant to the Dr. William M. and Ellen B. Kelso Fund for Archaeology. They are standing within the palisade of the 1607 James Fort, with a 1909 statute of Capt. John Smith and the James River in the background, beside the burial area of the victims of the first attack of the First Indian War in 1607, which these, and other Society of Colonial Wars, grant monies will be used to excavate and study.
