Bequest of John Frederick Dorman, Renowned Virginia Genealogist
At the Fall Court, Governor Walter Jervis Sheffield presented a check of over $12,000 to the Virginia Society, a bequest from the estate of Mr. Dorman, who passed away in Fredericksburg after a distinguished career and being a long-serving genealogist for a number of lineage societies. The bequest “is unrestricted and may be utilized as your Council may best determine” according to the letter from Mr. Doman’s executor.
