Former Governor Francis Claiborne (Jay) Johnston Passes Away

Jay Johnston, former Governor of the Virginia Society and long-time Registrar and member of the Council, passed away in Raleigh, NC, recently. Jay served as Governor from 2010-2012 and then as Deputy Governor General of the General Society from 2012-2014. He served on the Virginia Council for many years, including nearly a decade as Registrar. For the 2007 104th General Council meeting, in conjunction with the celebration of the 1607 settlement at Jamestown, Jay stepped in for the ailing former Governor of the General and Virginia Societies Russell Scott, who was to chair the event, to successfully manage the assembly.
