Ed Mitchell joined the Virginia Society in 2000 and has held a number of positions over the years, including Treasurer, Lieutenant Governor and Governor before being elected to his current role as Deputy Governor General. Ed says he first became acquainted with the Society through his father’s membership in the South Carolina Society. However, his family roots on his mother’s side are deep in Virginia soil and the family farm in Charles City County has been theirs since colonial times. Ed and his brother Rob are both members of the Virginia Society. Ed began his career in finance on Wall Street after graduating with a degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics from Duke University. After relocating to Richmond in the 90’s, he learned of the Virginia Society through his former father-in-law, Clyde Ratcliffe. Ed has been Managing Director of Devon USA, a commercial real estate developer of industrial warehouse and multi-family properties, for over twenty years. Ed and his wife Katherine have five adult children. While work weeks keep him at his Richmond residence, he can be found in Charles City County most weekends.
