John Daniel is a native Virginian, born in Portsmouth when his father was serving in the Navy. His family moved to Richmond soon after, where he grew up. He has been a primary care physician for over forty years after graduating from the Medical College of Virginia. He served his internship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and finished his Internal Medicine residency at the Medical College of Virginia. John was introduced to the Society by Dr. Gilbert Bryson, the former Surgeon. His Colonial Wars ancestor is George Carrington, who was sheriff in Cumberland County. Fun fact: George married the daughter of William Mayo who laid out the city of Richmond. John and his wife, Princess, alternate living between Richmond and Charleston, where they met while working in the MUSC hospital. One of their adult sons is a NICU doctor in Kansas City and the other is a computer engineer in San Francisco.
