Native Virginian Walt Sheffield (born 1946 in Petersburg) is a member of over thirty lineage organizations, among them our Society of Colonial Wars, First Families of Virginia, Order of the Founders and Patriots of America, Sons of the American Revolution, Merovingians, Charlemagne, Magna Charta, and Jamestown Societies. The son of a Methodist minister, Walt earned his JD at Emory University and an LLM (in tax) and New York University and has been practicing law since 1974. He moved to Fredericksburg in 1975 after working in the Godwin administration. He has served as City Attorney and Vice Mayor. Walt is a widower with two adult sons and two adult daughters, and two grandchildren.
